I caught local band, the Fringe Collective, at Up Front and Company in Marquette Tuesday night. Its always wonderful to hear trumpet and violin worked into jam-band like grooves. The Fringe Collective is from Negaunee, MI and with a glimpse at their myspace page it looks like they are in the writing process . The Fringe Collective is definately reminiscsent of the Dave Matthews Band, but you can hear other influences rising to the surface. Hopefully, the Fringe Collective, will continue to experiment with their style and continue to grow. My digital camera is downstate, but I did take pictures with my friends camera and those pictures will be up in a day or two.
The night had to end short because of work and school the next day. I am definitely not used to shows starting as late as 10 p.m. or later. It makes staying out til’ 1 or 2 a.m. pretty difficult. Hopefully once we move into our new place on Pine St. I will be able to start making it out to more events around the Marquette, MI area without having to worry about bedtimes and other etc.
Up Front and Company has really great food and Tuesdays drink special is half off your drink order- if you call a coin toss. I won both mine and spent like 7 bucks. However, I did find the cheap drinks a good reason to tip generously.
Today Andrea (my Fiancee) and I are going back home to pack up our things and move our stuff to Marquette, MI. We’re really excited about what Marquette has to offer and what we have to offer too.
