The Fringe Collective, Up Front and Company and more.

I caught local band, the Fringe Collective, at Up Front and Company in Marquette Tuesday night. Its always wonderful to hear trumpet and violin worked into jam-band like grooves. The Fringe Collective is from Negaunee, MI and with a glimpse at their myspace page it looks like they are in the writing process . The Fringe Collective is definately reminiscsent of the Dave Matthews Band, but you can hear other influences rising to the surface. Hopefully, the Fringe Collective, will continue to experiment with their style and continue to grow. My digital camera is downstate, but I did take pictures with my friends camera and those pictures will be up in a day or two.

The night had to end short because of work and school the next day. I am definitely not used to shows starting as late as 10 p.m. or later. It makes staying out til’ 1 or 2 a.m. pretty difficult. Hopefully once we move into our new place on Pine St. I will be able to start making it out to more events around the Marquette, MI area without having to worry about bedtimes and other etc.

Up Front and Company has really great food and Tuesdays drink special is half off your drink order- if you call a coin toss. I won both mine and spent like 7 bucks. However, I did find the cheap drinks a good reason to tip generously.

Today Andrea (my Fiancee) and I are going back home to pack up our things and move our stuff to Marquette, MI. We’re really excited about what Marquette has to offer and what we have to offer too.

I no longer care about Care Bears… and other stories of design.

I had to draw an object and I chose a Care Bear. I couldn’t photoshop a picture of the bear, but rather had to draw it into photoshop. Here he is all 14 hours of him. Also included on this brief post is our Line Point and Plane Study we did in class. We had to draw 50 5×5 inch images using the paintbrush tool in photoshop and only spend about 2-3 minutes on each. The image is a collage of them all.

In better news Andrea got a new job and we found a place we can move into on Monday.

New Poster Design

I designed this for my Uncle Mike who lives in Baraga, MI and his family. They  all love music and I really appreciate them letting me crash until I find a place in Marquette, MI.

AD 117 Graphic Design- Project 1: Squares

We were asked to convey the meaning for four words using four white 10″ x 10″ squares, forty black 1″ squares and four red 1″ squares. The four words the class was asked to convey were trouble, merge, agility and singular. These are my four sketch-ups 1-2-3-4. I would love for you try and guess each one.

Good Morning… Marquette Michigan and class at NMU

I’ve successfully relocated to the Upper Peninsula and am waiting for my first class of the semester to start. It’s fantastic to be back. My Uncle Mike, Cousin Rachel and her boyfriend Dave completely remodeled the bedroom for our arrival, cooked us (me and my Fiance) breakfast and assured us if anything broke down that could rescue us.

Eventually The Sunday Idiom is going to be exploring the local music scene in Marquette, thankfully, Sycamore Smith gave me a good start.

Sycamore Smith rocks the Kazoo and Acoustic guitar with a songwriting style distinctly his own. Check it.
